Palmers Brewery is totally committed to the traditional Brewer's Tenancy with a three-year review. It has no Houses under management. Palmers pubs are mostly situated in West Dorset, South Somerset and Devon; an area renowned for its outstanding natural beauty - rolling hills and stunning coastline, home of the BBC series 'Harbour Lights and Channel 4’s ‘River Cottage’.

Heading up the estate is Tim Woodrow, the Tenanted Trade Director. His philosophy is to encourage Licensees to stamp their own style, using their own enterprise and skills. The Houses have no corporate image and so individual catering styles are encouraged. “We all strive to preserve our Pubs as ‘Pubs selling food’ rather than ‘restaurants selling beer’” says Tim. Palmers are totally committed to ensuring that its pubs are the best, whether it is a traditional local, town centre, seaside or country pub, that offer good food and increasingly often, en-suite accommodation. Key to their success has been the prudent capital investments made by the company over many decades.

Palmers pride themselves on the close working relationship with their licensees and Tim has done much to encourage this relationship over the years. “The secret of a good tenancy operation is Brewery and tenant working together”, says Tim.

Palmers brew five cask-conditioned beers namely, Copper Ale, Palmers Best Bitter (IPA), Dorset Gold, Palmers 200 and Tally Ho! These five fine ales are complemented in their houses by Draught Guinness and Speciality Beers. The Cider range is from Thatchers and Constellation.

Palmers offer in-house training which now includes B.I.I. approved National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (NCPHL) as well as their own Cellar Excellence Course, Food Safety and Hygiene and Wine Proficiency at various levels.
