The White Lion is a historic 17th-century country inn located in the heart of Broadwindsor village, famously known for serving as a refuge for King Charles II in 1651. Following a successful fundraising campaign by local residents and Palmers Brewery, the treasured building reopened in April 2022. It stands once more as a central, community-run social hub for both village locals and visitors exploring the Dorset countryside.

The kitchen serves a menu of delicious home-cooked food made from locally sourced ingredients, which pairs with beautifully kept Palmers ale beside the open log fires. Managed by the Broadwindsor Community Pub Ltd, the inn continues the community-focused legacy of its late committee leader, David Leader.
The bar serves as a lively village social centre, hosting regular entertainment ranging from bingo and quiz nights to live folk music. The entire venue is dog friendly to accommodate walkers, and the property includes full disabled facilities to ensure this historic countryside space is completely accessible to all visitors.
