Origin of palmers 200

Palmers 200 was first brewed in 1994 as a bicentennial brew to commemorate 200 years of continual production on the banks of the River Brit in Bridport. It proved so popular, production never ceased and it enjoys a popular following thirty years later.

The clip’s distinctive black background and striking red ribbon became the basis for the redesign of our core range of ales in 2008, with all five ales incorporating the ribbon motif.

Over the years, Palmers 200 has won numerous regional and national awards including Tuckers Maltings SIBA South West Champion Bottled Beer, SIBA South West Premium Bitters 4.5 to 6.4%, Gold in the organisation’s first digital tasting and from there it went on to win SIBA National
Champion Bottled Ale in the same class. More recently, it has won a Silver in the International Beer Challenge and has also been recognised in the SIBA Regional Independent Beer Awards.
